Breakfast recipes for lazy daddies
Daddies, these two recipes will get you certified as a chef at home
As is with all would-be mothers, my wife too was on a nutritious and wholesome diet that had to be eaten at regular intervals. Breakfast was a problem though. We would have the usual poha, sandwich, sabudana khichdi and a lot of boring stuff. This is when we went recipe hunting. It must fulfil three criteria. One, it must be easy to make. Two, it should not have many ingredients. Three, it must be nutritious and balanced. Some searching and some probing finally gave us few easy recipes that has stayed with us ever since. They are simple, nutritious and easy to make. Most importantly, they are recipes for lazy daddies. Here, I present them to you.
Rava Idli
This is idli with a twist. You use a rava (semolina) and curd batter with other simple ingredients. There is no need to let the batter rise overnight, something that many of us hate doing. Here is the video that I looked up. Serve it with green chutney. Other than the criteria I mentioned above, this recipe also looks awesome no matter how bad a cook you are. There are very fews ways in which you will go wrong here.
Note: If you do not have the Idli maker, use small bowls instead. Comes out equally good. Just ensure that you have a small quantity of batter in the bowl so that it cooks well.
Paneer Toast Sandwich
This is a recipe that my colleague suggested and I love going back to it.
Ingredients
Bread slices
Butter
Green chutney (Figure out how to make it. Dude, there is no way I’m gonna teach you this too.)
Paneer slices
Capsicum (thin slices)
Boiled potato (thin slices)
Tomato (thin slices)
Cheese (optional)
How to prepare
Apply the butter and chutney on a few slices. Let all the vegetables and the paneer slices go in the sandwich. Toast the sandwich in a pan with just a drop of oil. Ensure you cover the pan. A minute or two later, open it and grate some cheese. Cover it again and take it out after a minute. You are loving this already, aren’t you?
I am an expert at these recipes now. I no longer have to go through the ingredients or recall the procedure to prepare them. Rava Idli is my favourite though. With every turn, it comes out better. Try these recipes and let me know how they worked for you.
